about

Made using 14 different archival recordings, this song is built around the classic labor song, “Which Side Are You On?” written by FLORENCE REECE, and sung by a group of IWW members in Chicago in 1983. It begins with Aunt Molly Jackson, the voice of Harlan County mineworkers during the 1930’s, and features a blind street performer and harmonica player from Clarksdale, MS –Turner Junior Johnson – playing the old hymn, “When I Lay My Burden Down.”
